The exam objectives doesn't say anything about which servlet or jsp specification you are supposed to learn. Things can change over time.
I'm interested because I like second hand book shops and often buy second hand books. Currently I'm reading Advanced JavaServer Pages, written by David M. Geary. That's based on the Servlet 2.2 and Jsp 1.1 specification.
Can I use this book as a second introduction to Servlets and Jsp, and as a first starter for the SCWCD. After that i will fast-read the SCWCD exam Study Kit.

I think it's a bad idea to learn new specification with old ones.Because things are added but not only, they can change too (deprecated,...).You should buy some good books that fit your exam objectives and above all read the specifications, they cost nothing and they are the root of all you could read.
Good luck!

Hi,
I used an even old book "Java Server Propgramming J2EE Edition" that was published about 4 years ago for preparing SCWCD (passed last week). I think the most important thing is to do Mock Exams (they are free). You can learn a lot from those questions. A book is a reference that is just like SUN's Specification that you can check it any time and they are always updated.
Good luck,
