Hi there,
Any SCWCD books from Kathy? Her SCJP books is one of my favourites. It's a great book to study.
If she has one or more publishings on SCWCD, please let me know. Thanks.

Not for this exam--there are others though. Check out the resources at the top of the SCWCD forum page for a big list.

There's one coming out in June from three of us who developed the exam (Bert, Bryan Basham, lead exam developer, and me). It was supposed to be out earlier, but we can only do so much until after the beta has finished, and the results are analyzed, and then we rush like crazy to finish the book
Thanks for asking!
We will post more mock exam questions here, though. We haven't started that process yet, but when we do, we'll post a lot of them in this forum, and we'll post some cheat sheets too. We'll do what we can to help.
The existing SCWCD study guide (Deshmukh, etc.) is still really good for preparing, even though it is not all current for this new exam. Besides the specs, there's also a fairly new book from Apress called Pro JSP that I like. It has a LOT of relevant info for the new exam.\
cheers,
Kathy

Thanks for replying Kathy.
Sorry it's been a while and I've been busy with my job.
My questions:
- Unlike SCJP exam which deals with 1.4 technology, SCWCD deals with a combination of them (servlets, jsp's...), each one having different versions and spec's. So what's the latest version of SCWCD? What's it versioned based on?
- If it's only SCWCD beta that's available right now, shall we wait until the official (non-beta) exam is released?
- The study material(s) you're preparing, are they designed for a beta SCWCD or the official one? Will they still be released in June?
Regards,
Mahdad

HI,
What is the fundamental difference in the new version of scwcd and the old one apart from the change in content?
I feel in the old one you beed to rely more on your memory apart from the the understanding of the concepts.
But, my question is that whether this new exam would need us to memorize things in the same way as the old one?
Thanks in Advance
John

Hi again,
I just noticed this 1.4 SCWCD exam on Sun's website. http://suned.sun.com/US/catalog/courses/CX-310-081.html
Is this the exam that Kathy was talking about? Is this the one that they're preparing exam prep. materials for it? Should we enroll for this exam, or wait for another one coming?
Please clarify. Thanks.

So, the book that we discussed in this thread (originated by me)...is it "Head First Servlets and JSP" that's going to be released in June? Is "Head First Servlets and JSP" the recommended study guide for SCWCD exam? Please clarify. Thanks.

Mahdad -

Well, our HF Servlets and JSPs book is coming out in late June, and we intend for it to be a great study guide for the new SCWCD exam - but I'm sure our competitors wouldn't agree that it's the *only* recommended reference
