Is this JSP translated to servlet whenever JSP is executed or whenever JSP is changed?
If JSP is translated if JSP is changed then how it will come to know about the change? is it by Time stamp?

From my understanding, JSP are translated upon request but NOT all the time. So if your page was invoked for te first time or there were changes made prior the request, then compilation to servlet starts... then ready to serve the request.

-Well i am not so sure about this. I think this will depend on your
servlet container. It is good for you to read the documentation
of your servlet container to find out the mechanism it does during compilation.

Hi Yamini,
JSP translated on request by default. But you can switch this by using a flag which says while loading the server it-self compile JSP and have it. This can be achieved by using jspCompile=true for all jsp.
