Hi Friend,

The JspWriter class has a method called getPreviousOut() with the explanation that it 'gets the surrounding out'.

Can anyone tell me what is this?
Does that mean the it writes the matter to the out of the surrounding tag?

Thanks in advance.

Remember that tags can be nested. Also, tags have the option of evaluating its content to a string. So, when evaluating to a string, the "out" that everything is being written to isn't the regular (top-level" jsp writer .. it's just some crazy buffer thing. It all has to do with the fact that all these custom tags can be nested all over the place -- who knows where it's being written to .. thus the different "outs". Does that help?
