Hi,

"Directives do not produce any output to the current output stream". This is a statement from one of the mock exams hosted in j2eecertificate.com. They pointed it out as a correct statement about directives. But I saw in SCWCD Study kit and some other websites that DECLARATIONS are the one that do not produce any output to the current output stream. Thats my observation too. Could someone else please clarify this?.

Thanks.

Ya, may be. But don't you think directives "indirectly" produce output to the current outputstream? like in include directives?

It is clearly evident that DECLARATIONS do not produce output. Also, I would say DIRECTIVES also do not produce output.

Remember, the INCLUDE directive includes the file at translation time only. In other words, it's not producing any output when the page is being processed.

Thanks,

I was confused. If the exam asks something like this, I would say, both directives and declarations do not produce any output.

It is sorta covered in the JavaRanch Style Guide.
