Good news - All head first scwcd buffs.
Walmart has the book "IN STOCK" - My copy is on its way.
Search for SCWCD on walmart.com under books.

Wow, I never thought of Walmart as a source of very specialized technical books. I learned something new. I wonder if they just have them on the shelf in a brick-and-mortar store, next to the Dr. Phil books maybe?

Hi Ram,

Just wondering if you got the CD from walmart.Because walmart mentioned
"Hardcover, 886 pages, Edition CD-R" ...in the description. Can you tell what's there in the CD? I wanted the pdf of the book chapters. If that is ther e then its good. please post this as soon as you get the book.

Thanks,
Sharada

I just started studying for this exam, and a friend of mine who took it awhile ago recommended the _SCWCD Exam Study Kit_ by Hanumant Deshmukh. Do you think the Head First book is better?

I do not see any "Exam Cram" type books on the links page for this exam like there were for the SCJP Exam. Is this because it is recommended to buy reference-type books that you can still use after you take the exam?

I also read on this forum that the Deshmukh book (published in 2002) does not cover all the material of the SCWCD 1.4 exam, so now don't know what to buy.

I won't buy any books from Walmart, though. I oppose their labor practices.

It depends on which version of the test you're going to take. For 1.3, the book your friend recommended is sufficient. But for 1.3, it is lacking. It's not meant for 1.4.

HTH.
