I recently made the decision to take the SCWCD test and discovered that my previous certifications (SCJP & SCJD, both Java 2) are now officially expired.

OK, that's fine. But the question this brings to mind is: do I need to be re-certified as a java programmer before I can take the latest SCWCD test?

Afraid I can already guess the answer.

I think I read somewhere on the web, but not sure where, that it is necessary to be JCP and not be that with latest version. This essentially means at least you should be certified and if your two years time frame has elapsed still you can go for it. If it always requires a up todate certification then a professional cannot do it as its not easy to go for certification after certification. How can somebody go for SCWCD and then a must to complete SCBCD also within two years after doing JCP. So I THINK you can go for your SCWCD.
