Howdy Cattlepeople!!!

Tense Monday Morning. Apprehensively, walked into the testing center. Came out, relaxed.
Pass! Score is 94%, 65 out of 69.

Thanks go to 4 great people out there (wherever ):
Kathy Sierra, Bryan Basham, Bert Bates and Mikalai Zaikin.

And off-course above all, JavaRanch.

The test was surprisingly easy. Questions on EL/JSTL/Design Patterns were routine stuff. No tricky ones here like the SCJP. Lot of questions relation to web application deployment and security.
Overall, not a hard nut to crack.

Strategy:

1. HFS (but obvious, huh).
Great Book.
Thoroughly once, skimmed second time.

2. Free mocks.

3. Careful analysis of free mock results. (Analyzing, even the correct answers).

4. Realized that EL and JSTL are something real important from exams perspective. Downloaded their specs and read. (And they helped v.much, really)

5. Mikalai Zaikins superb study notes for the last week.

In all, about 7-8 weeks of normal (2-hr a day) preparation, with a few lapses.

Overall, enjoyed the stuff

Hi Gaurav,

Congratulations on your result!

Could you tell me what, in your opinion are the best mock exams to use for prep? I have the Enthuware JWebPlus V4 mock exam simulator, did u use it? What did u think of it?

I just basically want advice on which mock exam simulators are closest to the real exam and most helpful.

Thanx for your comments.

James.

SCBCD is the next. (Just saw mama Kathy's name as one of the forum's moderator there.)

Could you please Provide me if u have any study guide for 1.4?

i am sorry, but . The HFS book is too good to be seperated with. I suggest u to grab a copy today, as it is something to treasure for.

The list of exams given at Jdiscuss.com is pretty good. I think the best exam was from JWebPlus: Check Here

i did not use any simulator, but the one above was quiet close to the real exam in terms of quality and the look & feel.

Regards,
Gaurav.

Congrats Gaurav

EL is directly present as a chapter in JSP Spec.

BTW, can the moderator slide this thread to Results forum, please?

Ciao

Well Done Gaurav!

So far this proved to be the best thread to know about Mock Exams. It really helped me. I wish this thread should be allowed to remain here as few people really visit results forum. So more can benefit from the experience of Gaurav Sahni.

Again Congratulations Gaurav Sahni! Enjoy, and what's next on your plan ?

You might consider Kathy, Bert, and Brian's Head First Servlets and JSP.

I feel JWeb+ is good enough for preparing for SCWCD, the questions are very close to the real exam indeed.

If you could afford, you might also consider Whizlabs' product, for me, they are indifferent at all.
