As mentioned in the subject The answers to 1 in page 639 to that of page 644 question 3 are contrasting. Could any one explain what is the approach taken in concluding to both of these answers!!

I don't understand you question.
It looks to me like (3) on p 644 equates to (1) on p 639,
(4) equates to (2),
(6) equates to (3) &
(5) equates to (4).

Maybe a mis-read?
