I want to know , how to do configure tomcat for EL related stuff.

Try following these steps:

I am just telling u the steps I followed for enabling EL
support for my web application

web.xml should contain following reference

Part of code from web.xml file

<web-app xmlns="http://java.sun.com/xml/ns/j2ee"
xmlns:xsi="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema-instance"
xsi:schemaLocation="http://java.sun.com/xml/ns/j2ee
http://java.sun.com/xml/ns/j2ee/web-app_2_4.xsd"
version="2.4">
-----------------------------------------------------------

and your JSP should point to at the top
------------------------------------------------------------------
<%@ taglib uri="http://java.sun.com/jstl/core_rt" prefix="c" %>
------------------------------------------------------------------

So that you can use EL expressions like this in your JSP file
------------------------------------------------------------------
Host Name : ${header["host"]}
------------------------------------------------------------------

This is all you need to get EL working

This is used if you want to use the the Tag Libraries.
