I'm currently reading Head First Servlets & JSP book but I find it difficult to carry the book commuting to work which is when I do my reading. Is there a soft copy of this? I can show proof of purchase with my receipt and everything.

I also purchased K & B book when I took my SCJP 1.4 exam and that was awesome becaused it had a PDF of the whole book.

Both awesome books by the way.

Yes, Authors of HFSJ Book. I too have the same problem. The book is excellent but it is too cumbersome to carry. Is there any way that we can get a soft copy of it.

Thanks & Regards

We're glad that you like the books!

We have had some security problems with the "eVersion" of the SCJP book

If you have any ideas about how to make security work, please let us know!

I understand it's really difficult to control the softcopy (eVersion) of the book. Its unfortunate for the people that purchased the book and have to deal with carrying it. Especially at minus 20 waiting for the bus on your way to commute to work.

Ditto for me on the Head First books - I do my study on the train, and it's a PITA to lug them around.

I don't have any easy suggestions on security for the softcopy version - I have seen some people that use non-printable pdf's, but it's extremely easy just to load them into ghostview or something and print them from there.

Most reference books don't care so much about this (eg. the Ed Roman books are freely available on serverside.com) as it's not economical to print them, so people will buy the books anyway. However, with books like the HF series, you probably wouldn't refer to them much once you've passed the exam - so it's a little more difficult.

Hi all!

I agree!!! The SCJP book is the best teaching book I know. And the attached PDF version is definitely a benefit.

Now Im preparing for the Web Developer Exam. I (resp. my boss :-)) bought the HF book. I have to travel a lot and its a lot of trouble to carry it around.

Cheers,
Manfred
