I gave the exam today. I had 6 Drag and Drop questions and none of them worked. I asked the local prometric center authorities and they said it was Sun's problem and they couldn't help with it.
End result, I got all those questions wrong.
Why do they need to have Drag and Drop questions in the exam if they can't make them work in the exam software.

It's a known bug on SUN. Recommendation is to write response on a paper and to the end into the test.

I have a colleague who gave this test a couple of months back. None of the 5-6 drag and drop questions in the test didn't work and as a result she failed the
test by 1 mark.
When she contacted Sun they said it was simply not possible as their software is very well tested.

I am going to sit for the exam in a couple of weeks and really worried about this not working.

This seems to be a serious flaw - could any of the Bartenders with Sun connections investigate this???

I will call Sun today. As far as I knew, the only problem with the Drag and Drop questions was that you couldn't review them without losingyour original answer. I have not heard of the software failing to register a correct answer!

I will post back when I have talked to Sun... in the meantime any more details about these problems would be of great assistance. So, for example when you say "didn't work", what exactly does that mean?

Thanks,

Bert

Drag and Drop questions only displayed empty boxes.
There is another post which had the same problem
http://www.coderanch.com/t/168822/java-Web-Component-SCWCD/certification/SCWCD-Passed

I am sure I have read quite a few posts itself in Javaranch complaining about Drag and Drop Questions.

Thanks Angela -

I read a lot of the posts , but not all of them. This is a new one on me, but obviously not new altogether. This little bit of detail helps a lot!

Thanks!

- Bert

I'm worried...I gonna take the exam within 2 weeks from now...I did not know about this drag n drop thing before...What is it exactly??
1) Do we need to write full code for a given question??
2) Or do we need to debug the given code & drag ??
3) Where will be the code ??and where r u dropping?? is there a window for dropping the whole code??
4) what do u all mean by getting empty boxes after dropping??

Pls reply
THanks in adv..

If its of any importance, I just took the test (in US) a few hours ago and I had no problems with the drag and drop questions.

Hi All,

Just to revive the thread.
Bert, did you manage to figure out what's up with the "drag and drop" questions problem? Some of us're planning to take the exam in a few days, and would like know when the bug they probably have will be fixed

Cheers
Krzysiek

Hi Friends,

I am also planning to take up exam in 2 weeks in bangalore. How can SUN keep quiet for such a long time if it is a real bug? Is it something to do with the plug-ins required in the prometric centre or something else? Whatever, the centre has to be responsible for this. If someone from bangalore has written the exam with or w/o problem, kindly let us know.

Thanks,
Shankar

I took an EJB Certification two weeks ago in Irvine, California and got frustrated with the drag and drop questions. I kept dragging the answer 4 to 6 times to put it where I wanted. I finally dropped the answer where I wanted but I spent so much time to do it.
For those who may encounter the same problem, I suggest to skip those drag and drop questions even if you instantly know what the answer are and come back to answer them after you have answered all other questions.

This is unacceptable, Sun must fix the problem. Obviously Sun did not run their QA on different environments.

Hi All,

Even I had this problem while writing the exam. But I am 100% sure its not a software problem you need to place the buttons carefully.
I tried 5 to 6 times and then it worked. I got around 4 questions on drag and drop and i was able to answer all of them and finally managed to score 93%.

FYI: Please see a sample button below.

--------------------

| 'Place here' |
--------------------

Just try to place the button somewhere near 'Place Here' Label.
It will work.

Hope this will help many ppl

Regards

I know this problem with the drag and drop. The drag and drops do work, u just got to know how to place the item in the box. I figured it out after 20 attemps. ( this was in EJB exam though )

Basilcy, u CANNOT drop the item 1 pixel ABOVE or to the LEFT of the target box. If u drag it past those bounds it wont stick

If u drag the item EXACTLY to the pixel on the box, it will work.

It will also work if you are a few pixels out witch are BELOW the box or the the RIGHT edge of the box.

REMEMBER IF YOU ARE EVEN OUT BY ONE PIXEL, ABOVE THE TARGET BOX OF TO THE LEFT, IT WONT WORK.
