Hi there,

I have just recently started my preparation for SCWCD certification. Theproblem is in my deployment environment. When a JSP page being compiled, I get the error message on my browser saying that javac cannot be found. It also says that JAVA_HOME is not pointing to the correct JDK...or something. Anyway when manually copied tools.jar into tomcat/common/lib, the problem's fixed.

What should I do in order to get Tomcat see javac in its right directory (jdk.../bin)?

Thanks alot in advance,
Janne

I don't think that JREs contain the tools.jar needed to compile classes on the fly. You should have set the JAVA_HOME system property when you installed your JDK (not JRE). You may want to review the installation document on the JDK website to make sure you've done everything correctly. Basically, you need to set JAVA_HOME to the directory that your JDK was installed into.
