As per Servlet Specs, the DTD of security-role element is as follows:

<!ELEMENT security-role (description?, role-name)>

This indicates the role-name sub-element can come exactly once. Is this correct? In my opinion, this seems to be a documentation/publishing problem. Could anyone please confirm?

But in HFSJ, page 632 given multiple role-names, is it wrong? too scary...

Hi,

The <role-name> subelement should be exactly once. You have to use multiple <security-role> element if want to define multiple roles.

In the <auth-constraint> subelement of <security-constraint> , you can define multiple role name under single <auth-constraint> element.

Thanks
