In the study part for JSPs the following q

Which of the following statements regarding the directive JSP tag are true?

has irectives do not produce any output into the current out stream.

as one of the answers. But doesn't the "include" directive do exactly teh same? does it not write to the out stream???

So how can the above be correct? Can anyone plz confirm?

Hi Brian ,

No the include directive does not produce any output stream .
Remember it is a translation time call where the code from one file is
just copy pasted into another file unlike the jsp:include
where the response of one is inclided in the other (run time call)

So include directibve does not actually produce any output stream
it just saves you the trouble of copying same piece of code in multiple places
