I don't believe it.. Gotten lucky I guess. Between my job and other things couldn't devote much time for the preparation. When I took the mock in the book, I got like 66% ( but I was half asleep while taking it tho..).

But HFSJ is really THE book for the exam. I owe both my SCJP and SCWCD to kathy, Bert and Brian. Thanks a lot guys.. I am sure you all are doing all you can in improving the books. Now and then a few errors in the book are a bit of a pain but still your books do a great job at driving home a concept, and are instant hits with novices/intermediates.

About the exam...
In the exam, I don't know if it's meant to be so, I got the q's topicwise. Like I got first 5-6 about custom tags, then 5-6 from design patterns and so on.. and that pretty much continued till the last q. Pretty wierd. Anyway I am not complaining. Patterns were a little confusing.. I messedup a few of them.

I thought the q's weren't that difficult. Even if they are, if you are patient, you can easily eliminate some of the choices. so patience pays...

I really thank and owe my certifications to javaranch.. Great work and great going guys.. Thanks a lot..

regards,
Brian

Can you please tell us the web sites you have used for the mock exams and preparation? Thanks.

Kannan,

I didn't do any tests from any other sites. Running short of time, I barely finished reading HFSJ twice. I did go to j2eecertificate.com and tried the "study" part there and took half of the final test, but I felt most of the q's were too off the mark..

If the main intent is to get a good score in the exam, I would totally suggest sticking to HFSJ, try to thoroughly understand the concepts, the tests at the end of the chapters and the mock exam.

Actually, now I remember, I was surprised to see atleast 2 q's DIRECTLY from the book ( but I think not more than 2 ). So if you have thoroughly understood all the concepts introduced in HFSJ, u are more than ready.

hope this helps..
regards,
Brian
