Hi,
I finished scjp(86%) a month back after 3 months of prepartion without any knowledgs abt java. And now im looking forward to give scwcd. I dont have any work experience and also any idea about jsp and servlets. Do u guys think i can atleast pass this one? I followed KathySiera and BertBates guide for the scjp and they were awesome!! Thanks Bert and kathy! Couldnt have pulled that score without u both. Keep up the good work!
And i am very confused abt scwcd.., like which book to follow? how many days would it take and can a guy like me without any experience in jsp and servlets could pull this off! If anyone could please let me know which good book to buy for the scwcd 310-081, i.e complete coverage of all the exam objectives in any book i would be really glad for ur help.. Thanks!

Think the best book i have seen so far is HFSJ but sometimes to me it seems so full of unnecessary stuff, who needs cartoons all i want in a book is the main points, i used Exam cram for my SCJP exam and i sat for it within 3 weeks and passed but with the HFSJ it might take you a month because of the Junk cartoons and messages

Hi,

There are several books available see this site for details
http://www.certificationbooks.com/

There are also other books that are considered reference manuals like 'Core Servlets and Jsp's' (have a look at amazon for others).

The thing is to find a book that helps you. The Head First series helps a lot of people but there are some who do not like its style. I recommend that you have a look in your local book store at any Head First book by Oreilly. The Head First servlets and Jsp's book takes the same format. If you can learn from that, or tolerate the style then go for it, if not try another book. Most people here recommend it and at least 2 of the three authors have been know to post on this list, which helps, and they helped write the exam, which helps even more.

I would strongly recommend that if you are only going to buy one book, you have a look at other free stuff on the web and ask lots of questions here.

Good luck - you can do it but it may be touch at times particularly if you have never done any web programming, it is a very different paradigm than gui stuff, and it may take you longer than a month - depends how much hard work you are prepared to put in.

HTH
