A doubt in using custom tag handlers

Dear friends,
i am trying to build a simple tag hadler example from HFSJ.but i am not able to the following import.
import javax.servlet.jsp.tagext.*;
i m using tomcat 5.5.
please help me how to do the import and give me the code to set the classpath required.

Put the servlet-api.jar in your CLASSPATH when you compile the code.

I think the jsp-api.jar should also be included.

It is only the jsp-api.jar which has this functionality.

thanks for your quick responses.i am now facing another problem in custom tags.i get the following error

Unable to load tag handler class "null" for tag
plz tell me how to over come the error.the tag handler is public and in the correct location.

Can you see the tag handler class from a JSP page? Try to create a new tag handler object in the JSP page to understand if it's a problem of visibility.

Also,can you post your TLD file?
