Why are the whizlabs simulators very costly compared to the other products available in the market. When i prepared for SCBCD, i found the SoftBCD Simulator from SoftLearn systems to be very effective and cheap ( around 12 $ if i am not wrong ) whereas the whizlabs simulator is priced at 75 $.

I think the price of whizlabs simulators makes people like me to opt for other comparable simulators which i can say are equally effective though not comprehensive.

Any comments on this.

Dear Reghu,

Thanks for raising this question as I know that few other people would also want to have it answered.

To answer your question, I would like to say the following:
a.) I hope you have seen the latest version of our product and I am sure that one can't compare it's features and functionality with other products which are available at lower cost. Please visit the below page for complete details about it:
http://www.whizlabs.com/product-offering.html

b.) If you look at the price of some of the older players like Transcender, you would say that ours is cheaper . Although they don't offer the J2EE simulators we've.

c.) When we started Whizlabs 5 years back, we too had similar pricing and you could compare our product with the other products you are talking about. Since then we've added significant value to our products and services, parallel to our growth. We are the only ISO 9001-2000 certified company to offer IT certification exam simulators and we are the world leaders in J2EE certification exam preparation. To be very honest with you, we've more commitment to serve our customers than to make profit and it has been the fundamental value for all of us at Whizlabs.

However, we do understand that it is still not affordable to many people, whom we would like to serve. To compensate for that we offer a special Buy 2 Get 1 FREE offer through which you can get discount over 35% and occassionally offer special discounts.

I'll still take your feedback and consider it seriously for possible actions.

One of the possibility I can think of right now is that we can think of offering a special discount on our products to all JavaRanchers.

Let me hear from you and other JavaRanchers about this possibility.

Best wishes,
Pradeep

Hi Pradeep,
Thanks for the detailed post.

I can see that your product is very very comprehensive and its features and functionality cannot be compared with other products in the market. But if it not being adopted by majority of customers ( or may be minority of people like me ) because of the price, then something has to be done about it.

I donot know about others, but for me, the content of the simulator is what matters, it need not be very comprehensive and very detailed. If should fit my need of simulating the exam experience and i have found both the exams SCJP and SCBCD to be fairly easy except some 5 - 10 tricky questions. And simulators like SoftSCBCD fitted my needs very well & ofcourse at very less price ( about 1/6th of whizlabs pricing ).

So i think, if you could get down the price ( or through promotional offers) , lot more people would get benefited from your product. Thanks.

Hmm...Can I have just the questions in a plain txt file, without the fancy GUI, for a half price?

With Respect,
Ice

Thanks Raghu and Ice for your response. As I mentioned earlier, we will consider your suggestions and at this point of time (if there is a significant interest), we can offer special price for JavaRanchers.

Regarding offer the questiosn in the .txt/.doc or any other dump format, I would like to say that this will spoil the whole purpose of "Exam Simulator". From our expertise and experience in this field of over 5 years, I can very confidently say that taking the practice exams as close to the real exam (both in terms of environment and content type) makes a huge difference to one's chances of success. So, its not worth even if you get it at 1/4th of price. I would strongly recommend you take the practice as if its your final exam. Believe me, you will not be surprise/shocked when you appear for the actual exam, which happens to many people who don't go prepared in the simulated environment. Anxiety is one of the major factors which puts you down in the actual exam.

Also, do read about how can a simulator ensures your success through our new simulator features page at http://www.whizlabs.com/product-offering.html.

Please feel free to give your inputs.

Best wishes,
Pradeep

Apart from the already mentioned differences in product quality and features the "Global Economy" may also play into this - the same forces that fuel the offshore outsourcing phenomenon.

I can't download a loaf of bread from half-way around just because its cheaper there, I'm going to have to pay the local price. However I can download software (and pay for it with a credit card) that was developed in a place where the bread is cheaper and thus the pay is lower (and possibly the standard of living is less lavish) or simply because the global currency exchange is currently "favorable". So even though it takes roughly the same "effort" anywhere in the world to develop the software, the "cost" are different everywhere.

I haven't been able to find out were softlearn-systems and enthuware are located but the more expensive ones give the following addresses:

Transcender
500 Northridge Road
Suite 240
Atlanta, GA 30350

Whizlabs INC
35-36 76 th Street
APT 103
Jackson Heights NY 11372
USA

Whizlabs Software Pvt. Ltd.
211, Suneja Tower-I,
District Centre, Janak Puri, New Delhi-110058
India.

This is nothing recent, its been going on for decades - only in the past it applied to goods that required freight; made in Japan, made in Hong-Kong, made in Singapore, made in Taiwan, made in Korea, made in Thailand, made in China etc.

Hi Pardeep,

I have a question for you. Is there anyway to print the screen in Whizlab? If there is none, could you please look into making it available for future releases. I use Print screen feature of Windows to print it but its a real pain..

Thanks,
M Abidi.

Pradeep,
I recently passed SCJP1.4 (thanks to whizlabs simulator). I am looking forward to the SCWCD exam. Is your offer for a discount for Java Ranchers still open?

Thanks Kedar for your appreciation. Over the last few days, I've received a large number of mails regarding the discount offer I talked about and we are planning to formally launch our special offer to all JavaRanchers.

I would advice you to write to us at [email protected] mentioning about this thread for a special discount.

Austin: I hope you've received my response. Please write to us at [email protected] in case you need any further support.

Best wishes,
Pradeep
