Hi All,
I was going through the threads on this forum and many of you seem to have prepared from Head First Servlets and JSP.

I already bought the Manning's SCWCD Exam Study Kit Second Edition and would like to know if this book alone will be sufficient to prepare, besides referencing specs from online resources.

Also, what is the difference in the approach in which both books covers the exam topics?

I have a good amount of experience working in JSP, EL and Servlets.
Please let me know your opinion(s).

Thanks much:
Namita

You shouldn't have too many worries in that case. HFSJ is primarily aimed at an audience thats completely new to JSP/Servlets etc. I found it of great value since I had doubts about the smallest of things and HFSJ did a good job at clearing that up.

As long as you're making sure you know the stated objectives well, I don't think the book you use should be an issue. Just my thoughts !

The reviews seem to be good on Amazon for this book, except for this

This book was good during it's time, but now it is outdated. The book is designed for SCWCD 1.3, and did a great job covering all the topics. However, Sun Microsystem discontinued SCWCD 1.3 on December 2004. So, if you are like me, disappointed with head first books and looking to be certified as fast as possible, do yourself a favor and buy the second edition of this book. You won't regret it.

So make sure you're preparing for 1.4 and not 1.3.
Hope that helps,
Good luck,
Amit
