Idempotent methods

+Pie Number of slices to send: Send
This is regarding idempotent methods - Head First Servlets says the only POST method is non-idempotent.

Isn't PUT doing something very similar to post - transferring the contents of the request body into the server ? Any reason why is PUT idempotent or is it that it is meant to be used in an idempotent manner ?

Hi,

have a read of this. It is the W3C (the organisation that defines most things web) take on idempotent.
