Hi,
According to the info given on Page 320 of HFJS and also according to the answer for the first condition in EL evaluation table in Page 322 if we dont specify anything abt EL explicitily ,EL is enabled by default.

I have tried this example:

index.jsp
<html>
Session ID is : ${pageContext.request.session.id}
</html>

I was surprised to see tht ${pageContext.request.session.id} was displayed as template text on the browser.

I didnt mention anyhting about EL either in the jsp or the DD.

When I had set the attribute isELIgnored = "false"in the JSP then it was working fine.

Please clarify this.

Regards,
Vineela
