Hi,

Can anyone tell me what are the mandatory elements in <web-resource-collection> element?

Only <web-resource-name> is the mandatory element of <web-resource-collection>. <http-method>, <url-pattern> and <description> are optional.

But I remember tht in HFJS it is mentioned tht web-resource-collection element should have one or more url-pattern.

Please correct me if Iam wrong

Oops. My bad.
HFSJ is right. <url-pattern> can exist 1 or more times. <http-method> is 0 or more times.

From the Servlet Specification 2.4, p144, Figure SRV.13.14:

web-resource-collection:
- web-resource-name : mandatory
- description : none or more
- url-pattern : one or more
- http-method : none or more

In one of the mock exams,If I remember properly its in the first mock exam of jiris.com and also in the following link
http://e-docs.bea.com/wls/docs70/webapp/web_xml.html
it is mentioned tht url-pattern is optional.

Please clarify

It is probably using Servlet 2.3 (url-pattern, 0 or more)

Plz have a look at Writing Web Application Deployment Descriptor .
It says :
The deployment descriptor web.xml is defined by the Servlet 2.3 specification from Sun Microsystems. This deployment descriptor can be used to deploy a Web Application on any J2EE-compliant application server.
