Hi all - I'm just getting setup to write and deply servlets and JSPs.

I've got the HFJS book and I've installed Tomcat ok.

However, when I try to compile my first servlet my compiler can't find the

javax.servlet.*;
javax.servlet.http.*;

packages. Currently I'm using a the JCreator IDE and a 1.4.2 compiler. How do I download the packages so my compiler can see them?

Thanks
Mark

You will need to get j2ee as well downloaded.
Here is the link: http://java.sun.com/j2ee/1.4/download.html#sdk
Also you may want to get jstl.jar also into classpath.

I am sure JCreator has some way of including jar files into classpath.

Hi Mark
if you have not solved your problem yet, you need to add to your classpath the servlet-api.jar that can be found in Tomcat_Home common lib folder and also for jsp you will need to copy form Java_Home lib tools.jar in to Tomcat common lib folder. Hope this works for you...

HI Mark

The servlet jar is missing in your classpath. Set the classpath to it. It will available in the tomcat_home\common\lib\
