What are the mandatory elements in a tld file.
The elements

are mandatory. Do we need to have <shortname> and <tag> element also ? Cant i (theoretically) have a tld file with no tag element with say an EL function in that.

I find different sources mentioning different elements for this. Or is HFSJ the final word on this ?

Actually, the following are the only two elements that are mandatory in taglib. Note that "uri" is not mandatory:

<tlib-version>
<short-name>

You can either refer to the spec. or use the following link:
