Hi All,

If isELIgnored is unspecified in the page directive and in the DD if <el-ignored> is given as true , will the EL be evaluated or ignored??

It is said that page directive takes priority over DD . If isELIgnored is unspecified means that isELIgnored = flase, and hence when isELIgnored is unspecified in the page directive, EL must be evaluated irrespective of <el-ignored> tag in DD.
Is this understanding of mine correct.

Any info on this will be helpful
Thanks in advance,
Suchitra

When isELIgnored is not specified, it defaults to false.

When <elignored>true</elignored> no page is evaluated, except those that specify isELIgnored="false"
A default never overrides a set value!

Hope this helps,

hi Suchitra,
you can understand the concept this way. When nothing is specified in JSP file then always go by what is mentioned in web.xml. In web.xml it is false by default, and hence the evaluation takes palce until you explicity set it to true.

when you specify isElIgnored in jsp file(Explicitly to true or fasle) then at that point this value overrides the value specified in web.xml.

You can refer to page 322 HFSJ for more details

cheers
