Hi, I know that in a EL expression, like in ${person.name}, the right side of the dot (name) must folllow normal Java naming rules for identifiers but how about person (the variable on the left side of the dot, does this have to also?

Thanks so much,
Carmen

I think it should be valid java variable ..That's it ..

When you declare like
jsp:useBean class=foo.person id=beanVar
it creates instance like foo.person beanvar = new foo.person
so beanVar is just an instance of class Person
