I've been trying to use the EL in my JSP, but for some reason they are taken literal.

this is what I wrote in the JSP

<c:set var="x" value="abraham"/>
My name is: ${pageScope.x}

and this is what I got out.
My name is: ${pageScope.x}

I think that EL is deactivating, if so, how could I activate it.
I`m working on bea weblogic

I tried using the isELIgnored=false attribute of the page directive but I get an error that the directive is invalid
I also checked that standard.jar and jstl.jar are in the classpath

thanks for helping me.

which version of JSP are you using? it should be 2.0 to make EL work.

The version of JSP you are using will probably require:
<cut value="${pageScope.x}"/>

That's how we done it in them good ol' days.

I tried using the isELIgnored=false attribute of the page directive

I know this will sound silly but, did you try isELIgnored="false" (with the quotes) ?

Hi,

Have you included the standard tag library in your JSP to use the <c:set.. > using taglib directive ?

Thanks
