Hi Guys,

I was just wondering if someone is starting on SCWD , if so shall we start on study group and work on chapters and discuss over chat and get each ones ideas across and effectively clear the certification with good marks.

Chatting and studying as a group really helps.

I wouldn't mind meeting in an Instant Messaging Chatroom (since many of us are thousands of kilometers away from each other) where we can discuss topics.

That's okay but I don't think chapter 1 & 2 are too dificult. No need to waste 2 days for dat. From chapter 3 we can have 2 days to study
I don't know whether you are agree.

Hi guys!
Ive been studying for this certification but since I work I find it difficult just have one or two days for each topic. Cant we just talk about topics regardless of the chapter?

PUT,HEAD,TRACE,GET,DELETE,OPTIONS are all idempotent.Meaning they yield the same results for any number of identical requests.

Thanks,
vinu.

Vinu/Kalyani,

GET,HEAD,OPTIONS,TRACE - NONIDENPOTENT
PUT,DELETE,POST - IDEMPOTENT

WHEN U MEAN BY THE TERM IDEMPOTENT U MEAN TO SAY WHEN WE USE THESE METHODS IT SHOULD NOT CHANGE ANYTHING THATS RESULTS FROM THIS CALL,

DELETE CAN DELETE THE FILE ON SERVER IF THAT METHOD IS USED,PUT CAN LOAD A FILE TO THE SERVER IF ALREADY A FILE WITH THAT NAME EXISTS IT WILL OVERRIDE IN THE SENSE IT TRYING TO CHANGE SOMETHIGN ON THE SERVER SIDE ,OFOUCRSE POST CAN DO ALL THE TWO IT CAN DELETE AND UPLOAD LIKE PUT SO THESE THREE METHODS R CALLED IDEMPOTENT WHICH MEANS CHANGES THE STATE OF ANYTHIGN IN THE SERVER ,

REST ARE CALLED NONIDEMPOTENT WHICH WHEN USED WILL NOT CAUSE ANYTHIGN CHANGE ON ANYTHIGN ON THE SERVER.

Karthik,

please don't shout at us in all uppercase letters. It's unnecessarily hard to read, too.

You switched the descriptions. GET is idempotent, while POST is not.

Hi Dittmer,
According this link...
http://www.w3.org/Protocols/rfc2616/rfc2616-sec9.html#sec9
GET,HEAD,PUT,DELETE,OPTIONS,TRACE are all idempotent.
Kindly explain on this...
Thanks,
vinu.

Hi Vinuharan,

in above mention site definition of idempotent is ,

A method is idempotent if side-effects of "ALL identical" requests is the same as for a single request.

Now if we talk about PUT it has to be idempotent as all the identical request will always put same file on server so the side-effect is same, now ideally even DELETE will try to delete the same file that will have same side effect, but practically its not possible to delete same file.

Some one kindly let us know what is expected answer in exam
are DELETE and PUT idempotent ?

Cheers
-Praful
