I am new to scwcd prep. All Java ranchers recommend the Head First book so much. Is it enough to just read it or do I also need to download tomcat and practice before giving the exam. Plz advice.

Hi Chint!
I'm also studying for the SCWCD test and I recommend the Head First book too.
About reading and being ready to do the exam, the Head First book intend to be more than a simple reading. It gives you a path to traverse, so that you "must" read and, at the same time, practice what you are reading.
And, as the authors say, it's not simply a reading, but it's like a conversation between you and the author, and it makes the learning easier.

Good lucky to you!

What's the point of passing the SCWCD if you can't build and deploy a real application? In that case the certification isn't worth the paper it's written on (as they say). You shouldn't need to ask whether downloading Tomcat and getting some real experience is necessary, as it really should be an essental and integral part of your learning. You won't learn nearly enough in practise by just reading a book - even after several years of working in the field, I'm still learning a few new things which crop up during actual development!

Oh, and for the sake of foreign language translators, please spell all English words in full, using "please" rather than "plz".

Good luck!
