Hello Charles,

Your active participation in the forum (precise and clear answers to questions) is sure helping the people preparing for scwcd.

All I believe , that is needed to make your book a bestseller - is its availability in mutliple countries - in the local bookstores

I have read the Books TOC and the organization of matter looks great - right now one has to read specs \ search through the tutorials on net to get a grasp on the difficult topics - from the usage perspective....

Looking forward to read your book.

Regards,
Shivani.

Local bookshops are always a bit of a problem when you don't have lots of offices all over the world - the reason being that it costs an awful lot of money to get the books on to the shelves and often retailers won't accept your title unless you have a regional contact (c.f. Amazon.com). It's far more efficient to send books out to individual customers on a per-customer basis, which also means you get customer service direct from the publisher in case of any problem (a bookshop usually has to contact the publisher anyway in the event of a damaged copy etc.). To this effect, I hope very much that the website (see my signature) payment processing will be running at the end of this week so anyone who doesn't win a copy of the book can easily order a copy through those means...

Your book costs around 35 pounds: Its prices look prohibitive for an Indian.

I got HFSJ book for abt Rs.500 or below .
Given the current currency rate 1 pound = 86.86 Rupees. HFSJ cost me approx. less than 6 pounds.

Making it locally available (Editions printed exclusively for asian countries) would definitely help in increasing sales.

Regards,
Shivani

Firstly, the book has been published in the UK where the production costs are much higher than those in Asia. In addition, we do not have an Indian distributor for the title, which would enable the price to be reduced. However, in order to allow international customers to obtain the book where distribution is otherwise problematic, the delivery from the UK is free of charge. This represents a substantial reduction to the overall price of the book. Finally, the number of books in the first run was small so the price per book is relatively high. Should the book become a major success, the retail price for a larger subsequent reprint could be lower, possibly even becoming regionally adaptive.

Hello ,

Just saw - Source code
Source Code - uploaded as well !

A deployable WAR of all code examples found in the book. Source code included. View the "readme" file inside the WAR for full instructions (extract as a JAR or ZIP file).

Absolutely Great ! - I think this would really help everybody.

Thanks!
Shivani.

Yes 35 quid is a bit hefty but look you will make that up with the knowledge and the cert that you get. It is not spending it is investing money in yourself.

Hi Charles,

Anyway are you planning the Economic Edition of this book. The Economic Editions Books are printed normally in India and valid only in some countries. Though the paper quality is not as good as the original edition, it's prce is very low. For comparision, if the roginal prise is $40, it will avilable for $8 - $10 in indian currency.

Thanks
