I recently passed the SCJP exam for the 1.4.2 platform. The hardest topic on that exam was definitely 'threads'... I understand the concept in general, but it seems I'm only likely to get 1/3 of those thread questions right.

The SCWCD material seems to have less tricky material, but there is noticeably more to memorize. What are the three most difficult topics (in order, if possible)?

That's a tough question to answer because everyone finds different things difficult... For most people I would say (in order from most to least difficult):

1) Custom tags
2) Tag files - possibly also EL if you've not met it before
3) Patterns - only because there are some nasty exam questions!

Sometimes bits on filters and wrappers can be tricky, but provided you have a solid understanding of these topics it should be possible to work through them okay.
