want for clarification in loading the servlet!

hi ranchers...
i am reading HFSJ..at page 102..the book says: When The Container Strats,it looks for deployed web apps and then starts searching for servlet class files.................

but i tryed to change the servlet name at web.xml , but there is no any warning or expetion when starting tomcat....can you help me ?

I don't quite understand what you are saying here! what are you trying to acheive by changing the name of the servlet? and looking a page 102 its just telling you about loading and initialization. What warning are you looking for and why? someone might be able to help if you explain a bit more in detail.

ok..
i mean when the container starts, it starts for servklet classes , but suppose if there are NOT the servlet class defined at web.xml, the container must throw an Exception,but he did NOT throw..

Hi,
Ok i see what you mean, it only seems to be an error when you try to request that servlet. The application loads up fine even if there is no class for a servlet that is in the DD. Where does it say the container must throw an exception?
