AppServer contains both web container and EJB container, while WebServer contains web container only.
So AppServer has support for JSP/Servlet as well as for EJB. On the other hand, webserver has support for JSP/Servlet only.

Hi Imran..
what about Transaction Management and security ..are they same across Webserevr and Appserver???

Also...is it the case that if we don'nt use EJB we need not use Appserver ???

transaction management and security are mostly taken care of by the EJB container.
if you dont need EJB you can use Webserver itself.
