generror.jsp

errorPage.jsp

I am using Tomcat 5.5.17, the problem statement is

If i try to access generror.jsp in a new IE Window then i am getting HTTP 500 Internal Server Error

If i comment in generror.jsp and then access the jsp everything works fine and then if i uncomment the troubling code then access generror.jsp will correctly display errorPage.jsp

One thing more the title of the IE window still show HTTP 500 Internal Server Error

Same behavior is observed when we used DD to declare error-page

Later i modified errorPage.jsp, but inspite of restarting Tomcat, old error page is seen not the modified one

Any idea why??

In IE, select Tools > Internet Options...
then select the Advanced Tab
uncheck the value "Show friendly HTTP error messages"

Your second problem sounds like the browser is caching the error page.

Thanks Marc, I had a doubt about caching but didn't knew about 'Show Friendly URL'
