Hi,
Passed with 84 %. A bit disappointed with score,
but overall happy now that it's out the way.

Preparation consisted of
-HFSJ
-Whizlabs
-Specs for JSTL
-Plenty of Coffee....

The Whizlabs simulator has a nice GUI to it and the questions
are much harder than the real exam. However It did pose a few questions
on taglib declarations in the DD, which I believe is out of scope
for the scwcd 1.4 exam. I may be wrong here; Please correct me if I am.
The customer support from Whizlabs was virtually non-existent.
I sent them 3 emails, none of which have received any replies.

Hints and Tips:-
1.)Don't wake up before you go to sleep.
2.)HFSJ is an excellent book, but don't read it whilst having a shower.
3.)Be nice to your wife; You'll live longer ;o)

On a final note, the HFSJ is a good book; it captures the key concepts
and provides you with the theory to build a decent web
application. However I'd like to put into practice what I've learnt.
I would appreciate recommendations for a good book detailing how
to build 'real-world' web-apps from scratch to finish. Such a book
would hopefully instill best practices and highlight common problems
in this development area. Maybe I'm hoping for too much ...

kind regards,
Mo

Good tips; all.
I particulary liked:
3.)Be nice to your wife; You'll live longer ;o)

Very wise advice.
Especially if you have already taught her how to shoot!

Grats and thanks for the summary.

BTW; I would also like to hear of a good book that describes best practices using modern web app technologies. I have bought and read several looking for one that describes good policy and practice for how to build complete web applications, but sadly none have really hit the mark IMO. Collectively; I suppose, they have taught me many useful concepts... but I'm still looking for that one really great book that covers it all.

Kishore,
I'm afraid not. I found the documents a bit too dry.
I did glance through them though, but thought that
HFSJ would suffice for the exam.

Mo
