doubt in realm-name tag in login-config

I am reading web app security in study kit.I read that in <login-config>
<realm-name> need to be specified only in basic authentication but later
an example shows <realm-name> specified for FORM authentication.can anyone
explain?

You can use the realm name for any authentication, but it means nothing in FORM authentication.
