Hi guys,
I am preparing for SCWCD from Head First servlets and JSP which is dated MAY 2005. This was the only book available in my office library.

But I am now concerned as to if I am following the right book. The May 2005 reprint follows JSP 2.0 and servlet 2.4 specs. But I have seen the latest official version of JSP as 2.1 and seen about the inclusion of JSF in some thread.

Am I on the right track in using the book or should I get a latest copy?
Do I need to learn anything else outside the book. Please guide me.

[Updated thread title, since it wasn't an SCDJWS question.]

No newer edition of the book exists, but the good news is that the exam has not been updated for Servlet API 2.5 , either. So you're in good shape with the book you have.

Hi Ulf,

on Amazon, it's dated AUG 2004. is it the right book? does the content still valid? if yes, I will buy it now...

thanks

There's only one version. Different dates only mean reprints.

Yes - there is only one version! And yes, if there are different dates it means a different reprint. The one and only version available matches the current SCWCD exam. Note, somewhere around here Bryan wrote a separate tutorial on dynamic attributes, and as far as I know that makes the coverage complete.

One fairly minor note is that newer printings of the book will include fixes to errors in earlier printings, but no new content has been added.

hth,

Bert
