Hi All,

Just a quick notice to say that when books like HFSJ say that you should read the specifications for JSP, Servlets and JSTL, then I can guarantee they're not joking.

I say that as I have just recently completed the scwcd exam (i passed). The number of questions relating to specific things in the JCP specifications was surprisingly large. Most of the books for this exam will not be able to go into the detail of the specifications (otherwise they'd be too large and boring).

Some things to pay attention to:
1) Learn everything for the core tags in the JSTL spec. *You may find* that there are a lot of questions which require identification of incorrect syntax in tags, optional attributes, default values for attributes and whether the attributes can be used in the body of the tag.

2) Worthwhile reading over the servlet and jsp lifecycles and the order of events.

3) Order of execution of listeners. e.g. when a variable is replaced what order are the listener functions called in etc.

Whilst I wouldn't study the specs in depth, they're worth reading about a week before the exam.

The JSTL spec is the exception to this. Knowing everything about the core tags usage is a must.

And another question is that there are many versions of the Servlet 2.3/2.4 and JSP 1.2/2.0/2.1?

Maybe they changed little, but which will the exam take?

Thanks!

Unfortunately, there are pretty big differences.
SCWCD1.4 covers Servlets2.4/JSP2.0/JSTL1.1

Congrats Philip for passing the SCWCD and thanks for putting in your suggestions to the exam takers. I'm looking at the specs here and there. May be like you say, I'll start reading it completely 2 weeks before my exam. Hope that helps.
