Guys,

The following is from David Bridgewater's book!

"To deal with this, the JSP 2.0 sets a default of isELIgnored="true" so that any occurrences of ${ in your old application will be correctly treated as template text. Only if the deployment descriptor web.xml is at the up-to-date version level of 2.4 is the default of isELIgnored set to false, for an up-to-date web.xml implies an application that is EL-aware."

So what exactly is true?? With a JSP 2.0 container, the attribute isELIgnored is set to true or false by default?? Please help guys!

It depends on the version you are setting in your <web-app> tag. If you are setting it to 2.4 (that way), the default will be "false" (not ignored). Otherwise, it will default to "true" (ignore)
