It's hard to explain. Charles Lyons (author of SCWCD Exam Study Companion) has a very good mock exam with drag 'n drop questions similar to the UI of the real exam. I highly recommend it.

Thanks Marc! Yes, when I created the exam engine (itself implemented on Java EE Web technology) I aimed for realism... well, realism except I chose not to model the horrid "my answers disappear" bug/feature which is present in the real Sun exam (see also this thread). One to watch out for there!

Our simulator (JWebPlus) has quite a lot of Drag and Drop questions. It also mimics the actual drag and drop screen of the exam very closely. Here is a screen shot :

Paul,
nice picture, but it looks better than the original c**p

(there's an extra question mark at the end of the sentence)

Thank you everybody for all your replies.
But I am still confused about DnD questions.

Could you elaborate on what you don't understand? The major complaint from most people is that if mark a question for reconsideration, when you go back to it the question has "forgotten" your selections. Thus you have to start again. It's a stupid bug and like Charles, when I designed my question engine I didn't replicate it. (I only have d&d questions for SCJP questions not SCWCD questions). Apart from that, the d&d questions on the real exam are generally ok and the interface seems OK to me.

Hello Marcus,
Actually I want to ask that which buttons appear on the screen?
What precautions should be taken while submitting an answer or
flipping back to an unanswered question?I have read other people's experiences who have passed the SCWCD exam. They said that you may face problems while dealing with buttons like 'Task' and 'review'.
Is it possible for you to mail some examples of DnD questions?I will
Appreciate that.

The D&D questions are very clear. There is one very slight peculiarity in that the drag icon of the the object you are dragging changes when it is over the target. If it is not correctly over the target it wont "drop on to it". Apart from that very ver minor quibble the questions are fine. If you are smart enough to take the SCWCD exam you are wayyyy smart enough to work out how to answer the drag and drop questions.

Marcus mentioned something very important: the SCJP has drag 'n drop questions. SCJP is a prerequisite for SCWCD, so you should have seen them before.

So what's the confusion?

Hi marcus,
This is to tell you that I had solved your 3 SCJP mock exams when I was preparing for SCJP1.4.I didn't see any DnD questions in them.Have you released any new mock exams which contain such type of questions?

Yes there are a few D&D quesions in my 1.5 mock questions. They are very few (perhaps only 5 or 6) as I only developed that capability in my exam engine right at the very end of my question creation phase. I'm not claiming at all that my D&D questions closely represent GUI ON THE real thing however, just that they give a feeling of answering a D&D question.
