Hey Ranchers!

I passed SCWCD exam today with 86%. Thank you for your input and interesting postings!

I prepared with HFSJ and Bridgewater. Although HFSJ is a very nice book, it was important to me to have a resource with 100% coverage (-> Bridgewater).

Preparation took me about 2 months with more or less 5 hours of preparation per week
I read first HFSJ (I was a novice in web component topics) then went through Bridgewater. I read both books two times.

Thanks a lot to Frederic Esnault for his excellent notes about HFSJ and especially for his SWCD API and Study Summary of Servlet Specification 2.4 Documents (Ive never read the original spec ). Its a must to read it before taking the exam!

The final exam was much easier than I thought and took me only about 55 minutes! I scored in the HFSJ only 55%; so for me its +31%

My advice: If you are reaching 70-80% in the (online) mock exams, you are ready to take it!

Regards,

Remo

Congrats for passing exam with good score.

Also thanks for your inputs.

Did you try some commercial mocks like Enthuware, Whizlabs if yes how close they are to real exam.

Also is it required to go through JSTL docs, specs.
I have gone through servlet and somewhat JSP.

No, not really. With David Bridgewater's book I got a free sample mock exam from Whizlab; In my opinion these questions were like the ones in the exam!
So it could be a good preparation to buy some mock exams...

I read only the spec summary for servlets (as mentioned). For me, there was enough information available about jstl and specs exam-question in HFSJ and Bridgewater.

You rock Remo!!!

I am using Bridgewater's book too, what do you think the level of difficulties of that book compared with real exam?

Thanks

Hi Tiffiny!

Questions in bridgewater are more difficult than the one on the exam. In bridgewater a lot of detail-stuff is asked; for the exam you really have to learn web.xml and tld-file structure, implicit objects, servlet- and tag-lifecycle and some of the most important functions (servlet-api). My exam questions weren't that detailed as the ones in bridgewater...
If you get a high (~80%) score with bridgewater's questions, you're ready to take the exam!

Thanks Remo !! It's good to know that.

Becasue I found some of the questions are really hard on that book. I feel very depressed when some of the chapters I got 70%, some of chapters I only did 30%.

Thanks again
