The question is to select whichever is true for a Servlet's life cycle and one of the answers is

The web container calls the servlet's destroy method when the servlet is destroyed or unloaded. Is this correct?

I feel when it want to take the servlet out of service it will call the destroy method. It doesnt make sense its called when it is destroyed. Please share your thoughts on this?

when the servlet is destroyed or unloaded.

I guess that they meant when the servlet is removed. When it's being discarded by the container.
