Lots of emphasis is given on Application integration nowadays, and since it is cutting edge technology, references and documents often don't exist. For example, I am trying to learn e*Gate now ... and after 2 - 3 hours, I have not learnt a thing !!! Probably a EAI forum where we can discuss MQSeries, Tuxedo, Web Methods and SPECIALLY other lesser known EAI products like e*Gate, IBM CTG , etc... may be of great help. What do other ranchers think ???
I guess that this is a topic where actually jobs will be generated in the year to come. I see lots of job offerings where they mention Tuxedo or MQ Series. I think its quite an advanced topic. Bought the wrox eai book, because it was offered very cheap as used book in amazon (20 euros). Haven't started yet. I propose to name the forum EAI-products. So it can be diferenciated from JMS or distributed computing forums. good idea.
Having read and reviewed the Wrox EAI book, and worked on a few EAI-style projects, I think there are still problems with attempting to classify what "EAI" actualy is. Almost by its nature, every EAI project will be different, and people often only get experience in a very small slice of EAI. I would expect to see a lot of unanswered questions about very specific problems. Before we leap to create such a forum, can we get a sort of "poll" of experience to see who might be able to answer questions on this topic? If you have any EAI experience, please reply in this thread and tell us what sort of software, systems, and situations you have worked with. Thanka.
I have some experience using MQSeries clients for java. I have also worked in POC using MQSeries administration, MQseries Server Programming in NT using java, IBM CICS Transaction Gateway, Peerlogic Path3270 connect May probably work in e*Gate soon.
