I have read in FAQs for SCWCD regarding version 5 of the exam:
Quote from Bert on April 2006: "The [1.4] exam will be available and "current" for a long time. There is no plan to update the SCWCD exam, I would guess that the EARLIEST that the SCWCD will be updated is at least a year away. At that point, the current exam will still be available for AT LEAST another year past that."
And its almost one and a half year now.. Any updates on when Sun is going to release version 5? If not now, then how beneficial will it be to go for 1.4?
There is no information at all at the moment. I suspect they may not introduce a Java 5 version of the exam because the differences from 1.4 are trivial.

I think JSF should be outside the scope of the exam, however "political considerations" might drive it into the exam. There is always a debate as to what should be included, and how to keep to the essentials. I suspect many, many people will use JSP/Servlets without using JSF and (for me) that would be a reason not to include it, and keep the exam to the core essentials.

I'm guessing that with the SCEA 5 Beta out now, the architect exam that is, which focusses quite a bit on JSF, we will probably see a SCWCD 5 beta soon. Either that, or we'll never see it at all.
The SCEA exam had ALOT of JSF questions. Not sure if that's a bellweather for SCWCD or not, but it might be.
All conjecture here though.
