In question 28 of the final mock exam of HFSJ it's stated that by setting this page directive the expression language will be ignored. I thought that it won't be ignored, but wouldn't be evaluated. So you will see the expresion language as ${a.b} in your JSP.

Those mean the same thing though. If it's ignored that means the container doesn't notice or recognize it as anything special to be processed. If the container were to purposefully remove all ${dontEatMe} content, however, you couldn't say the container was ignoring it... you'd have to set the isELOnADeathWishBecauseTheContainerIsComingAfterIt attribute.

Maybe this is because English is for me a foreign language. Ignored is for me it's not shown, because it's ignored. I don't see anything.

By not evaluated it is for me it is shown, but just the code which is not evaluated to EL.

But for the exam I understand that I don't have to make this difference.
