From what I can tell, sometimes in EL, if someStuff is an ArrayList (and I don't know if a Map works differently),

sometimes, according to HFSJ, would return the object id. However, it seems at other times, the same code will produce a list of the items in someStuff. Does that depend upon it being a Map vs. an array or List? How can I tell when it will produce an object id and when it will produce a list of the things in it? i'm confused. Thanks.

Hi Duncan

the ${myStuff} will print the result from the toString method call, so it really depends how this method is implemented.
