If I ignore the yout title "doubt in jsp" I'll say use a servlet.
You can also build a file like
<%=1>
<%=2>
<%=3>
and use your deployment descriptor to map it to an UML.

No, check the page source. In IE, do View > Source or right click and select View Source.

You will see that the output is:

3

Even without scriptlets you can do this. Just put
1
2
3
directly in your JSP!

Do not confuse "output" with "what the browser displays"! These are different things in the exam!
