Hello everyone,
Cleared SCWCD 1.4 with 92% today. And thus, joining the elite SCWCD's. Exam was easier compared to my expectations. I had 80 questions (of which 11 were not considered for scoring) to answer in 3 hrs and that was ample time. Most of the questions were lengthy with code samples; but were easier to solve.
Major share of 'questions on a single topic' belonged to Web deployment and configuration (XMLs, XMLs and more and more XMLs...)- Was tested on almost all the major elements of web.xml like servlet/servlet mapping,listener,security-constraint, login-config, jsp-config, conext-param, ejb, env-entry.... infact, everything....!!!
From Security section- Contrary to what HFSJ said, there were more questions on authentication[4] than on authorization[3]. Data Integrity and Confidentiality was accounted to a single qn.
2 qns on dynamic attributes, 7 on design patterns, and the rest saw a fair share of servlets, session and jsp module

I spend about a month for preparation. And my best friend for the last few weeks was HFSJ Million thanks to Kathy, Bert and Bryan for explaining things in such a lovely way..! Not even in my wildest dreams did it occur that I would one day fall in love with a technical book...!!! read this book twice.
I'd to go through specs whenever I'd to look beyond HFSJ for explanations.Reading entire specifications thoroughly would have been a nightmare.Again, it was HFSJ authors who helped. They had made it easier by mentioning the exact location of the topics corresponding to each question in the "Coffee Cram Mock Answers" section. That way I was able to cover all important topics in spec. And I should admit these references were of tremendous help.
Another note I referred to was Marc Peabody's design pattern notes. Needless to say, I scored a 100% in this section (All thanks to Marc !) Other useful last minute references were Frederic Esnault's SCWCD revision notes, and Ashok Kumar Babu's notes on sample web.xml and tld files and important API methods (though just method signatures, they came in real handy.)
And last but not least, this great site - Javaranch has been a one stop solution for all my questions and clarifications. Thanks to all those wonderful people here who are helping out those distressed & confused minds...!!!

As for mock tests, I didn't go for any commercial tests.Just referred some of the links mentioned in javaranch including javaranch and examulator

Other mock tests I took were 2 HFSJ mock tests - old and new one. And I scored in the range of 70-75% in both tests.Well..,predictions didn't work their way since I scored way more than the mock score.

And for all those aspiring SCWCD's out there, wish you all good luck with the exam..!!!

Hi,

Congrats on that great score. Can you tell as to what spec in particular you referred for the exam?

Thanks in advance.

Hi Nellika,

Is there any specific specification should I go through or should I go through the entire specification?

Thanks in advance.
