Dear Friends,

I am preparing for SCWCD5.
I have no experience in JSP or servlets and have little experience in JAVA.

I have read Head First book once and planning to read it once more.

I also have these books--
Manning e-BOOK - SCWCD Exam Study Kit
scwcd 1.4 -Hanumant Deshmukh

Should I read these 2 books too? They both have 500+ pages , is it really necessary to read them??
And what should read from the specs? any hints?

I think you are in same dilemma in which I were.
Read some specific chapters from both books not all.
topic includes:
1)EL
2)JSTL
3)Custom TAG
4)Deployment Descriptor

And as to specs ,read only syntax and rules not anything else.

best regards,
omi

Where did you get these books ? Did you buy three books without even knowing if you'd read them ?

omi, Thanks for your sugggestions. I will go through the books for the topics you mentioned.

Christophe, I purchased the HF book and I have read it. I borrowed the other 2 books from my office library. Many people mentioned about these books in this forum that's why I thought I too should read them.

Vishal , Did you read only Hanumant Deskhmukh book or you read any other book too?

Hi all,

Didn't want to start a new thread for this question, so I am quoting it here-

From where can I download JSTL Specs?

The link given in http://faq.javaranch.com/java/ScwcdLinks takes me to http://jcp.org/aboutJava/communityprocess/final/jsr052/index2.html
and when I click on 'Download' , it says, 'page can not be found'.

Please let me know the exact URL from where I can download JSTL Specs.

Ulf,
Link is Still not working

Prajal,

What would you bother to read JSTL specs? Why not practice on it?

Here the good links for JSTL:
1)http://www.java2s.com/
2)http://www.javapassion.com/j2ee/JSTL_speakernoted.pdf

best regards,
omi
